Redstation

New managing director for Redstation

Redstation has appointed a new managing director to drive the next stage of the business's growth in the UK and beyond.

Martin Groom has worked in IT since he left school in 1990, has held a variety of posts with IBM, and brings a wealth of experience to his new role as Redstation's MD.

"I've always been in customer services, providing solutions for customers, rolling my sleeves up and getting stuck in," said Martin. "I was looking for career progression from my post as services director at my former company in Waterlooville, and was very attracted to the sheer scale of the opportunity of this role."

New data centre

The appointment comes at an exciting time for Redstation, which has just announced a multi-million pound investment in its second state-of-the-art data centre in Gosport.

Already boasting customers in 100 countries - largely for its dedicated server products - Redstation has exciting plans for national expansion over the next five years.

"Our new multi-million pound Gosport data centre will enable us to reach out to local businesses looking to park their own IT equipment off-site," explained Martin, who described renting space in Redstation's racks as being on a par with "booking a hotel room for computers."

"It's a climate-controlled and fully-secure environment, with all the latest fire prevention technology, and comes complete with backup generators waiting in the wings, ready to take over should a power cut ever strike."

Business data solutions

"Colocating IT equipment is a better solution for businesses than keeping vulnerable software and data on servers in their own premises, because it cuts down on office space, cuts down on maintenance staff, and it minimises the risk of a catastrophe like a server theft or a fire."

Redstation's founder, Lance Taylor, added "Martin will be pivotal in realising Redstation's aspirations to become a national player in the colocation and connectivity markets over the next five years."
